Shop

Check out Jason and his mini-mart of wonderful goods: sweets, chocolates, crisps and drinks.
We are extending the shop's range for the new year to include milk, orange juice, washing powder, noodles etc.
The shop will usually be open after evening meals; opening times may be extended with demand.

Library

The library has a diverse selection of books, is an ideal location for studying, and also stocks a wide-range of daily newspapers.

Communications

There are phones in every room that can be connected to Diamond cable for £40.
There are also phones about hall and BT boxes around campus.  Some of the latest mobile phone tariffs compare more than favourably with land based ones, especially when some handsets are given away free with Student bank accounts.
Computers can be connected to the Internet via individual data points, also through Diamond cable. (Costing in the region of £90 for a PC and £140 for a laptop, including Network Card and installation)

Computers

The hall has two computer suites, filled with Networked PCs.
The second suite was only made last term and has six brand new high speed Pentiums, available solely for the use of the members of the JCR.

Buses

Getting into the city could not be easier than in Derby Hall, the bus stop is less than 50m from the hall. Get any bus (35, 37, 38, R2, R4, R5 (don't get this one back) or R5A) to "Market Square" for 75p. The journey takes about 15 - 20 mins and the buses run very regularly

Linen can be changed Mon/Tues lunchtimes, and Tuesday mornings.  The Linen room is situated in the Staff block (next to L-block).

Laundry

Washing facilities, and other amenities are open from 8am, until midnight every day. It costs £1 for a wash, and 40p (2 * 20p) for a drying cycle - usually it takes 2 cycles to dry stuff.
